If you see a nest on your property or around the lake with Canada Geese on it or with eggs, please contact Lynn at llmandon@optonline.net or text her at 973-722-0915.
Please do not try to approach the nest or destroy the eggs.
HCL has a contract with Goose Control Technology who files all of our state and federal permits and will send a biologist to deal with the eggs in an approved, humane fashion.
Thank you for your help with maintaining the health of our lake.
The Passaic County Outreach representative has asked for a list of seniors who have not had the covid 19 vaccine.
They want to set up a site in West Milford. They have a list of residents in Bald Eagle Commons and Lincoln Hill but they are looking for residents who do not live in theses complexes. Please call me if you know a senior 65+ who has not gotten the vaccine.

As we say goodbye to 2020, it seems we can all agree that this past year brought a great deal of challenge, uncertainty and sorrow. In the midst of it all, however, our community has never been stronger thanks to so many volunteers who graciously helped their neighbors and worked to improve our neighborhood.
As a result, we have been blessed with a place where we can live well in spite of the challenges in the world. While there is no telling what 2021 will bring, we can be confident that High Crest will continue to be a community where we can live, love and enjoy the lake.
The High Crest Lake Board of Directors would like to take this opportunity to wish everyone in the community a happy and healthy New Year.
It is that time of year again as we near HCL Board elections! This year, we will have four Board positions vacating and we need your support. To serve on the Board is a great experience and a terrific way to get involved with our community. Your input is very valuable and HCL cannot continue to thrive without you!
We value our members and would love to have you be part of the team. Anyone who would like to learn more or to be nominated, please contact any member of the Board by October 15, or send an email to board@highcrestlake.com. We will also need your photo and a brief 250-word bio for the Ballot.
Formal Ballots will be distributed one month prior to the November General Membership meeting, date and time still TBD as we may need to hold this virtually this year.
Currently, the four people leaving the Board are:
Sue Murphy – VP, Membership Kat Erlich – Treasurer Chris Gianetti – Lake & Beach Jay Locke – Secretary
Any person who has been a current HCL member in good standing for one year is eligible to run for the Board. Board positions are decided after the new Board is selected. That is to say, the new board determines the best fit for each Board member. Think of it as running to be on the team, but not a specific position. That being said, for the position of Treasurer, it would be good to have someone with accounting experience and/or experience using QuickBooks.
The time commitment varies by position and the seasons. President/VP/Treasurer/Secretary and Activities Directors are involved year-round. Buildings & Grounds Director and especially Lake & Beach Director are busiest in the summer season, however they do commit time throughout the year. A full description of each Board position can be found at www.highcrestlake.com/by-laws/
Please thoughtfully consider contributing your time and efforts to the HCL Board. Should you have any questions, and/or want to throw your hat in the ring, again please contact any current Board member or send an email to board@highcrestlake.com

The bear that took a swipe at, and injured one of our residents that lives on Hearthstone Drive has been caught and is now in the possession of the animal control authorities.
A message from the Passaic Valley Water Commission:
The Passaic Valley Water Commission is committed to providing our customers with high quality water and service. As part of our on-going improvement program, we are cleaning and lining existing cast iron pipe and replacing existing 6-inch transite pipe with 6-inch diameter Class 54 ductile iron pipe in a portion of the High Crest system of West Milford. Work includes the rehabilitation and installation of new mains from the High Crest Pump Station, along Upper High Crest Road, to the High Crest Tanks at Pawnee Terrace. The work is proposed in order to have a dedicated supply main to convey all flow to the storage tanks for treatment of disinfection byproducts prior to the water entering the distribution system. Bypass piping will be required to provide continuous water service to the customers. All affected customers will be contacted as required to coordinate work at their meter. Customer service connections shall be transferred from the old pipe to the new distribution main after the new pipe has been installed, pressure tested, and disinfected. Milling and final paving of the work area, from edge of pavement to edge of pavement, shall be performed. Upper High Crest Road, between Longview Road and Mallory Road will be closed to thru traffic at various times throughout the work. Through traffic will be detoured around the block. This work is to start on or about June 25, 2020. Please call the PVWC customer service number at (973) 340-4300 during regular working hours if you have any questions.
